Tasty and Sons: Review

We always try to stop in atleast once each trip to Portland to Tasty & Sons. So pleased with Tasty, we once endured a 3 hour wait to try their sister restaurant, Toro Bravo (huge disappointment). If there's a line up at Tasty, just leave your number and mosy down to Ristretto Roasters for a pre-brunch-orgy caffeination. The neighborhood also has lots to explore from a toy store that'll make you wish you were a kid again to a custom bike shop.

This busy brunch spot serves up the food family style, which is a nice way of saying you get it as it comes out of the kitchen. This is the best way to ensure people are served quickly, just like chinese dimsum and helps to turn over tables quicker. I don't mind it as it means I can have the delicious food sooner! Services is quick so no one sits without food for long.

While the menu changes with the season, there certain things I always order: Chocolate Potato Doughnut in Creme Anglaise, Griddled Bacon Wrapped Date with Maple Syrup and Almond, Roasted Fruit with cheese (changes with season, we've had apple but this was peach) and Burmese Red Stew. On this trip, we tried the Biscuits with Tasso Gravy, and the Fried Egg n Cheddar Biscuit with Fried Chicken.

My husband's biggest complaint about the fried chicken was that it was gone too soon and that you can only experience it for the first time once. First world problems, right?

This place might just be my favourite restaurant... And it's only a 8 hour drive from home.
