Oakwood Canadian Bistro Review

by Ivy Haisell in Vancouver

I've been travelling alot lately and it's made me appreciate just how good I have it at home. I went to Oakwood Canadian Bistro for dinner with a bunch of friends and was very pleased with the meal.

On the table:

  • Canadian Poutine with brisket, fries, curds and gravy.
  • Saltspring mussels in tomato coconut broth, cornbread biscotti.
  • Rabbit rillette, truffle butter, shared foie gras, caraway epi bread, pickled vegetables

While I was perplexed (ok awed!) at the Kitchenaid mixer at a planter, I loved the ombre blue antlers on the walls and cool light fixtures. This is an intimate establishment with well prepared food and refreshing libations. Each share plate is about $15 each. A group of 4 will allow you to get a good sampling of the menu but the ambiance lends itself nicely to a romantic date as well.
