Waffle Montecristo

by Ivy Haisell in Recipe Lab

Kick your sandwich up a notch by cooking your grilled cheese sandwich in a different way. This sandwich is satisfactorily crunchy and gooey in all the right places. You can customize the sandwich to different tastes which make it a real crowd pleaser for kids and adults.

HOW TO MAKE A WAFFLE SANDWICH

Make a sandwich with your favourite type of ham and cheese. Processed cheese melts nicely, but chedder and gruyere tend to have a better flavour. Add tomatoes and pickles with as much liquid blotted off as possible for variety.
Lightly beat one egg and dip the sandwich into the egg.
Plug in your waffle iron.
When your waffle is is hot, spray generously with cooking spray.
Place the sandwich on the waffle iron and close firmly.
Allow to cook for around 3-5 minutes or until crispy and light brown.
We served this heavenly sandwich with a little tomato relish.
