Asian Coconut Milk Dessert

Bo bo cha cha or Bubur Cha Cha is a sweet coconut milk dessert soup that my Mother served us when we were kids. It can be enjoyed cold or hot but by habit of experience my mother served it warm so I always have it warm. Do try to use the best coconut milk you can find as this recipe relies quite heavily on the coconut milk flavour as a feature. Read this post on coconut milk if you need help on how to chose a coconut milk.

Bo Bo Cha Cha Recipe

1 cup orange sweet potato peeled and cubed
2 cups taro peeled and cubed
6 cups water
1 cup  sugar
1 can coconut milk
1/2 cup sago pearls

Bring sweet potato, taro, water and sugar to a boil then simmer for 10 minutes.
Add coconut milk.
Bring back to almost boiling. Add sago while stirring constantly to keep the sago from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Simmer until potatoes are tender and sago are translucent. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
Enjoy right away, hot or cold.
You can add water if the coconut milk too rich.
