Jollibee Review

The bounty of Jollibee

It's not often I can say that a fast food joint surprised me. But here we were, a detour to Southcenter mall for a very Philipino food experience.

Jollibee is the largest fast food chain in the Philippines, operating a nationwide network of over 750 stores. Since it's expansion abroad to USA, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Brunei it has been a favourite of Korean hipsters in California, according to a show hosted by Anthony Bourdain.

Other guests in the line up recommended the Fried Chicken, and the Spaghetti because "it's sweet and has little cut up hot dogs in it." How could anyone resist with a recommendation like that? We also ordered the palabok for good measure.

There was a surprising amount of spam on the menu, which surprised me as many american friends of ours have a hard time with organ meats and byproducts.

The fried chicken was piping hot, fatty and juicy (in a good way) and I liked the sweet spaghetti because that's how my mom also taught me to make my spaghetti (1 teaspoon of sugar to cut the acid).

It was good though I wouldn't likely make this a regular thing. Try it!
